falllandscape2Fall is a time of Change, letting go of one season, as we move into another. But in Chinese medicine, there are  two organs associated with this time the lungs, and large intestines. The feelings they correspond to this time are grief, letting go, sadness, and regret.

Many years ago I worked in a synagogue as a back office person for the summer/fall season, during the fall and it was a crazy time, lots of set ups and special events, super busy, because there were a lot of funeral preparations! Those who’d been there for years said oh yes it’s the same every year.  Corresponds directly to what Chinese Medicine says, and death is the ultimate in letting go. Daily, we let go more subtly.

What do your organs have to tell you? With too much stress, antibiotics, or poor gut assimilation, your organs  experience  imbalances. This is my most challenged time of the year. LARGE INTESTINE. The large intestine works to excrete waste from the body. We often overlook the large intestine when we think of digestion, detox and weight loss, but its proper function is important for good health.

The large intestine:

  • Manufactures 95% of the body’s serotonin, which corresponds to our brain cells, no wonder they call the gut our second brain.
  • Is vital for immune health
