“It’s so shameful at 43 I don’t have this food thing figured out! I’ve lost and regained the weight three times!”

I’m sick of depriving myself to losie weight, momentarily feeling good because “I’ve done it” believing others attention and praisie me will make me feel good, but really it’s hollow and doesn’t make a difference.”

“Than the pain of watching the pounds creep back on, until I’ve added another thirty!”

“I’m done feeling this way!” Jessie told me.

Shame is a hugs factor in staying stuck. Shame makes you feel like you’re the mistake.

The saying what you resist persists personifies. The loop continues of how wrong you are, because here I am again, the mantra implores and how stupid you are because you “know better”, you keep focusing on what’s wrong with you, berating yourself for your mistakes, bad choices, condemning your lack of willpower, shame undermines your happiness!

It keeps you stuck attached to “the wrong” not allowing you to see the truth of what’s really going on.

Shame becomes the lens you view the world from and it separates you from your experiences.

The more you want to connect and change the more the shame game keeps you stuck and separate.

This quote from Melody Beatte below offers a reminder, it may feel like you’ve no choice but to go into the shame game spiral but you can reject it and claim what is true about you!

  3. How do you react, what happens, when you believe that thought?
  4. Who would you be without the thought?
